Thank you all that passed the word along to others. It is helping our bulk foods travel along and be useful to others. Please notice I am reducing the amount available as the items are being requested. If there is 0 in the listed food availability, it is no longer available. However, let me know if you are interested and we can get it next month again.
Please offer any suggestions or ideas you have that will make this useful.
Thanks again.

November Bulk Food Order is sent Please note
Please note in the side bar, there are some pounds of things ordered in bulk that have not been committed to. It would help us out a LOT if you know of anyone that might be interested in any of the bulk food items, to please refer them to the blog to take advantage of what is there that they may be able to use. I want for this to work and be a helpful tool for those not able to access bulk food items locally. The bigger the quantity we can order the better the price we are able to get. I priced items according to the bigger quantity. And that's OK, but, it would be good for others to join us and take advantage of the buys too. (Read: there is a limit to how much brown rice and oatmeal I can disguise in foods to use up the excess. :-) )
Speaking of using up oatmeal...Yesterday I made Baked oatmeal, and topped it with my homemade vanilla yogurt. I was attempting to reproduce the breakfast meal I had at a really nice Deli, Rebecca's, in Walnut Creek, OH a couple weeks ago. I was not disappointed. It was so good. And tasted just like the one I had down there. It uses the regular rolled oats, and my, but it was good. I'll share it here....to encourage you to enjoy a little taste of the Deli at breakfast sometime.
Amish Baked Oatmeal
1/3 cup butter
2 large eggs
3/4 cup brown sugar ( I used honey, with just a little molasses for that brown sugar flavor)
1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla
1 teaspoon nutmeg or cinnamon (I used cinnamon)
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 cup milk
2 tablespoons milk
3 cups oatmeal (regular or quick)
Melt butter.
Grease 1 1/2 quart baking dish and drop in eggs and beat well.
Add brown sugar, baking powder, vanilla, nutmeg or cinnamon, and salt. Mix well, no lumps.
Whisk in butter and both measures of milk, then add oats.
Stir well, and refrigerate overnight.
Bake, uncovered, at 350 for 35-45 min, or until set in the middle.
Serve hot with warm milk poured over.
I made my yogurt this time with Organic Greek Yogurt, as the culture
Here's the recipe I used for my yogurt, it's so simple I can remember it without looking:
3 1/2 c scalded milk (mine was 2%)
1/2 - 1 c powdered milk (I used 1 cup, because I like my yogurt firm)
Cool and then add 2 - 3 Tbs yogurt, with live culture stated on ingredient label
I placed the mix into a 1 1/2 qt casserole dish, put the cover on it, and put it into my Excaliber dehydrator, set on 115 degrees for over night. Next morning at breakfast time I had fresh yogurt. I took out about 1 1/2 c of the yogurt, added honey to taste and 1 tsp of vanilla. It made enough for several toppings for the baked oatmeal.
So, if you aren't exactly all that excited for a bowl of regular cooked rolled oats, give this menu a try. You might just join the ranks of others that have come to enjoy eating this tastey grain dish, and reap the benefits of both the oats and the yogurt.
Thank you all for your participation in the bulk food order this time. And even more for the encouraging words expressed to us. That means a lot.
Blessings.

Ready to ship
Thank you all for your patience. Payments are all received except one coming by mail.
Packages went into the mail yesterday. I've learned a few lessons and am starting on the list for the next bulk buy. I enjoyed this last one and hope you'll all stick with us and do it again. I have some suggestions from some of you for future co op buys. Please send me your thoughts or suggestions. I'm working on it...
I will have to separate the shipping/ handling charges from the total price of the food items. Ran into a little bit of a snag this time by doing it per oz...thought I'd covered my bases and should have run it past the hubby BEFORE I had it all in motion. Lesson learned. LOL He's a good guy and gently guides me. Puts up with a lot and still loves me. What can I say?
I also want to invite you all to join my yahoo group. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Lifestyle_Pathways . I'd like to make this a discussion among those of us involved with the food co op, just like we would if you were all in my neighborhood. We won'd have to focus on just health. It takes a well rounded life to be healthy right? Let's also have a good conversation. You don't have to be a buying member of the co op to join the list. I need to have more list members and an active list so my friend Patty will join!!! LOL
I'm headed on over to the list now to start talking to myself. Please, don't make me stay there along too long, OK? I've never been good company for me.

Muffin Recipe
Here is the muffin recipe. It's pretty generic and I LOVE it. Instead of fat, I use unsweetened applesauce. I use honey for sweetener, and ofen will use fruit juice instead of milk. They have always turned out edible. The combinations are endless. It'll take awhile to get tired of these!
Let me know if you try it, and how you made yours...
Muffins, from Tightwad Gazette
2 1/2 cups grain
1 cup milk
up to 1/4 cup of fat
1 egg
up to 1/2 cup sweetener
2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
up to 1 1/4 cups additions(wet and dry combined...so if you use pumpkin and raisin and nuts or sunflower seeds, only up to 1 1/4 cup total...
Mix thoroughly, Bake 400 degrees 20 minutes

Payments please.
I've invoiced everyone that ordered this first time...it was from PayPay, DaisyPatch Herb Farm. Of the 9 that ordered I have received payment from 3. One is a local pickup. I hope by next week to have all the payments in and the orders shipped. For the 3 that have paid yours will be in the mail the first of the week. Thank you so much for your prompt payment and for your orders.
There is still cinnamon and clay that can be ordered. LOTS of clay!!! I'm excited to try out all the good ideas Yvonne gave us. I sent some home for our daughter to try on our grandaughters forhead. There seems to be a suture trying to work it's way out, from an injury that was stitched several years ago. I've soaked my feet and had several cups of water with clay in it.
Be sure to drink lots of water and eat lots of fiber!!! Apples and carrots are good. :-) Remember that the old remedy for diarrhea used to be Kaopectate...kaolin clay. It's good stuff just remember to drink drink drink!
And it might be fun to hear from some of you to let us know how you are using your purchases. I've been eating homemade bread toasted with honey and cinnamon. and using cinnamon in a yummy muffin recipe.
I'll see if I can get permission to share that muffin recipe as it's so versatile and fun to use. Watch for it.
I have had some suggestions for the next co op buy. Herbs and spices for the upcoming holidays. I'll work on those next. There was a question about peppermint essential oil. I have a source for that. So that'll be on the list as well.
